Meet Dr. Maggie Carraway (she/her)
As a licensed psychologist, I specialize in providing psychological and psychoeducational evaluations for individuals ages 6 and older to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences. My psychological evaluations often address referral questions such as diagnostic clarification to inform treatment planning—whether you’ve been referred by your therapist or are seeking greater self-understanding on your own. I also conduct psychoeducational evaluations when there are concerns about ADHD, giftedness, or other learning-related challenges. Whether you’re seeking clarity about your emotional patterns, reactions, and relationships—or trying to uncover the root of learning or attention difficulties—you’ll find my approach to be thorough and empowering. I take a holistic view, integrating biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors to create a full, personalized picture of your strengths and challenges. Through clear feedback and tailored recommendations, my goal is to help you or your child gain meaningful insight, communicate needs effectively, and move forward with greater confidence, direction, and self-understanding.
My forensic evaluations are rooted in evidence-based practices and tailored to the specific legal questions at hand. I specialize in conducting criminal psychological evaluations for both juveniles and adults, with expertise in areas such as capacity to proceed, criminal responsibility, sexual dangerousness, juvenile transfer, and sentencing mitigation. I am also a certified juvenile capacity evaluator for the state of North Carolina and have testified in both district and federal court. In addition to criminal cases, I provide forensic evaluations in civil contexts, including mental health evaluations related to child custody and emancipation proceedings. I take a meticulous, unbiased approach to data collection and analysis, providing clear, concise, and defensible findings that inform legal decision-making. I work collaboratively with attorneys and other professionals to ensure that my evaluations offer meaningful insight into psychological functioning and clarify complex mental health issues within the legal system.
