When you or your child are working hard but still struggling in school or at work, it can be confusing, discouraging, and leave you wondering: Why is this happening?

Our psychoeducational evaluations help uncover the “why” behind these challenges and guide the path to effective solutions.

Psychoeducational Assessments

Psychoeducational evaluations are powerful tools for gaining a deeper understanding of how someone thinks, learns, and manages everyday challenges. You may seek or be referred for an evaluation if you or your child struggle with learning, attention, memory, or academic performance—or if questions arise about giftedness, intellectual disabilities, or needed supports at school or work.

We provide comprehensive evaluations for children, teens, and adults that go beyond basic testing and diagnostic labels. Using a thorough, individualized approach, we gather data and insights from multiple sources to uncover the root causes of learning or academic difficulties. For school-age children, this may include input from teachers, classroom observations, and parent feedback to create a complete picture of the factors influencing success.

Our evaluations offer detailed information on academic strengths and weaknesses, cognitive abilities (such as reasoning, memory, and problem-solving), and executive functioning skills like organization, time management, and attention control. The results lead to clear, tailored recommendations—helping individuals of all ages access the right supports, accommodations, and strategies to thrive in school, work, and daily life.

What Psychoeducational Evaluations Can Help With

Our comprehensive evaluations help identify and clarify a wide range of learning and attention-related concerns. Common referral questions include:

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Executive Functioning Challenges (e.g., organization, time management, focus)

  • Learning Differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and other reading or math difficulties

These evaluations also often support individuals seeking academic or workplace accommodations in settings such as high school, college, graduate programs, employment, or standardized testing environments (e.g., GRE, LSAT, MCAT).

We provide detailed documentation to assist with IEP or 504 plans in school settings and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in the workplace or testing contexts.

What To Expect

  • Clinical Interviews

We conduct a detailed clinical interview with the client lasting approximately one hour. For children/adolescents, this may include a clinical interview with the parent/caregiver in addition to the client. Can take place virtually on in-person!

  • Assessments

We administer a variety of assessments, which are individualized based on the evaluation purpose. Examples may include cognitive testing (IQ testing), academic testing, ADHD testing, and behavioral functioning questionnaires. We may suggest a school official, such as a teacher, complete a brief assessment about a client’s functioning (only with the client’s consent) to gain insight into functioning in the school setting.

  • Collateral Information

Record Review - We may ask for school records, mental health/medical records, or any other records we feel are pertinent to the evaluation.

Collateral Interviews - With the client’s consent, we may also interview other people in the client’s life who know them well, such as a friend/family member, teacher, or their individual therapist.

  • Feedback Session

We offer one-hour feedback sessions where we explain your results in a way that resonates, giving you the language to communicate your needs, strengths, and challenges effectively. The best part? The "aha!" moment, when everything clicks for you and you say, “Wow, that makes so much sense!” Arguably most importantly, we will provide personalized recommendations such as resources, IEP/504 accommodations, apps, and programs that can help to best support your well-being!

Full Battery Evaluations

Our Full Battery evaluations are appropriate for individuals seeking a complete picture of cognitive, learning, and social-emotional functioning, offering the most comprehensive assessment of one’s functioning and daily experience. These evaluations combine both psychoeducational and psychological testing to provide an in-depth understanding of how you think, learn, and feel.

Specifically, these evaluations explore one’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, academic skills, emotional patterns, personality dynamics, and behavioral functioning. By integrating these areas, we uncover how various factors interact to shape overall performance, well-being, and day-to-day functioning.

You’ll receive clear, integrative results designed to foster growth, resilience, and balance across all areas of life—whether in school, at work, or in personal relationships. Personalized recommendations are provided in specific areas of functioning, often separated by headings: “Clinical” (e.g., therapy, medication), “School” (e.g., accommodations, other school support), “Work” (e.g., environmental adjustments, other work setting support), and “Home” (e.g., daily routine recommendations, scheduling/calendar ideas).

Note: Full Battery Evaluations include both psychological and psychoeducational testing. They do not include extensive autism-specific or neuropsychological testing.
