Do you ever wonder why you think, feel, or react the way you do, or what’s behind your ongoing distress or anger? You’re not alone—and understanding the “why” is the first step toward change.

The Value of a Psychological Evaluation

Psychological evaluations provide an in-depth look at how people think, feel, and function—offering clarity and direction when challenges arise. Whether for an adult or a child, these assessments can identify underlying issues, clarify diagnoses, and guide personalized recommendations for growth and support.

Our goal is to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of yourself, so you can live your life with greater purpose, clarity, and direction.

The What and Why of Psychological Evaluations

When might an adult benefit from a psychological evaluation?

A psychological evaluation can provide valuable insight into how you think, feel, and behave. It offers an in-depth understanding of your personality and emotional functioning—helping you make sense of patterns that may be contributing to stress, conflict, or dissatisfaction in your life. Through this process, you can gain greater self-awareness and learn how to best address problematic thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. Evaluations can also assist with diagnostic clarification and guide personalized treatment recommendations, ensuring you receive the most effective support for your unique needs.

When might a child benefit from a psychological evaluation?

A psychological evaluation can help parents gain a deeper understanding of their child—how they think, feel, and why they may act the way they do. This process offers valuable insight into your child’s emotional, behavioral, and social functioning, helping you better support their growth and well-being. Evaluations can also provide diagnostic clarification and guide decisions about effective interventions or treatments, ensuring your child receives the support they need to thrive at home, in school, and in relationships.

Our Approach

  • Holistic

We look at the full picture—your mind, body, relationships, culture, and life experiences—to understand what’s shaping your current challenges. By considering biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors together, we uncover not only what’s going on, but why. This whole-person view ensures the evaluation reflects the complexity of your life, not just isolated symptoms.

  • Empowering

Our evaluations are designed to empower you with knowledge and insight, so you can take charge of your life in a meaningful way. By connecting the dots between your past experiences and your present patterns, we equip you to approach life with clarity and confidence. This isn’t just about identifying problems—it's also about recognizing your strengths. By focusing on both your challenges and your capabilities, we help you gain a fuller, more empowering picture of yourself.

  • Comprehensive

Our evaluations are thorough, thoughtful, and tailored to you. We combine in-depth clinical interviews, evidence-based assessments, and a careful review of your history to build a nuanced understanding of your strengths and challenges. From the first interaction to the final feedback meeting, every step is designed to give you accurate, personalized, and actionable insights.

  • Personalized

We create personalized evaluations by tailoring every assessment to the individual’s unique background and specific referral questions. Our approach combines thorough interviews, targeted psychological testing, and a careful review of records to ensure our findings and recommendations are both relevant and meaningful.

What To Expect

  • Clinical Interviews

We conduct a detailed clinical interview with the client lasting approximately one hour. For children/adolescents, this may include a clinical interview with the parent/caregiver in addition to the client. Can take place virtually on in-person!

  • Assessments

We administer a variety of assessments, which are individualized based on the evaluation purpose. Examples may include personality testing, social-emotional-behavioral functioning questionnaires, coping inventories, mental health symptom screeners, and trauma assessments. We may suggest a close family member/friend complete a brief assessment about a client’s functioning (only with the client’s consent) to gain insight into functioning across settings.

  • Collateral Information

Record Review - We may ask for prior mental health/medical records or any other records we feel are pertinent to the evaluation.

Collateral Interviews - With the client’s consent, we may also interview other people in the client’s life who know them well, such as a friend/family member or their individual therapist.

  • Feedback Session

We offer one-hour feedback sessions where we explain your results in a way that resonates, giving you the language to communicate your needs, strengths, and challenges effectively. The best part? The "aha!" moment, when everything clicks for you and you say, “Wow, that makes so much sense!” Arguably most importantly, we will provide personalized recommendations such as resources, tools, apps, clinicians, and programs that can help to best support your well-being!

Full Battery Evaluations

Our Full Battery evaluations are appropriate for individuals seeking a complete picture of cognitive, learning, and social-emotional functioning, offering the most comprehensive assessment of one’s functioning and daily experience. These evaluations combine both psychoeducational and psychological testing to provide an in-depth understanding of how you think, learn, and feel.

Specifically, these evaluations explore one’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, academic skills, emotional patterns, personality dynamics, and behavioral functioning. By integrating these areas, we uncover how various factors interact to shape overall performance, well-being, and day-to-day functioning.

You’ll receive clear, integrative results designed to foster growth, resilience, and balance across all areas of life—whether in school, at work, or in personal relationships. Personalized recommendations are provided in specific areas of functioning, often separated by headings: “Clinical” (e.g., therapy, medication), “School” (e.g., accommodations, other school support), “Work” (e.g., environmental adjustments, other work setting support), and “Home” (e.g., daily routine recommendations, calendar management ideas).

Note: Full Battery Evaluations include both psychological and psychoeducational testing. They do not include extensive autism-specific or neuropsychological testing.
